  • Travel

Flights will be direct from Edinburgh Airport, making the journey simple and stress-free. Athena has partnered with award-winning Travel Counsellors, securing the best group fares including baggage, along with expert support, financial protection, and 24-hour assistance should any issues such as cancellations arise. The Athena chaperones (1:10 ratio) will meet students at the airport and will be on hand for them (and parents!) throughout the week, and joining them on the return flight home. Transfers between the arrival airport and the school are included in the flight price.

NB Exact dates and times will be confirmed once airlines publish summer 2026 routes (expected November).

  • Accommodation and Meals

Athena students will stay in a modern student residence with big common spaces to hang out, a cafeteria, and comfy twin rooms (each with its own bathroom). Also staying on campus, are the Athena chaperones as well as Lacunza’s qualified course leaders to guarantee around-the-clock supervision and safety. It’s only a short walk to the school and activities, so no long travel.

All meals are included — healthy, tasty, and with plenty of choice. Students will also be encouraged to enjoy (and order!) churros or Basque cheesecake in one of the many nearby cafes, as well as experience an evening in the Old Town ordering world-famous Pintxos — all part of exploring Basque food culture!
